I am a Postdoctoral researcher funded by:
- COMPARE: COllaborative Management Platform for detection and Analyses of (Re-)emerging and foodborne outbreaks in Europe project
- Selection and Transmission of Antimicrobial Resistance in Complex Systems project and
- Global Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance project.
My research focuses on the flow of antibiotic resistance genes between different reservoirs using mathematical models and Next Generation Sequencing. I am particular interested in the use of new techniques and technology to gain knowledge on the temporal and spatial spread of antibiotic resistance on all scales.
Using a combination of (experimental) data, mathematical modelling and whole genome sequencing data, I hope to gain better understanding of, and insight in, the mechanisms that underlie (both spatial and temporal) spread of diseases.
